Pool Rules

PLEASE UNDERSTAND ALL RULES ARE SUBJECT TO THE DISCRETION OF THE GUARDS ON DUTY

  • Showers are required by all before entering either pool
  • Anyone with shoulder length hair or longer must tie it up
  • Anyone under 18 must perform a swim test to be in the pool without an adult
  • "Swimmers" under 8 must be accompanied by an adult (age 18 or older) in the pool area
  • "Swimmers" under 10 must an adult (age 18 or older) in the building at all times
  • "Non-Swimmers" must remain at arms length from adult at all times
  • Infants and babies must wear swim diapers with rubber pants to go in - two layers
  • Proper swim attire must be worn - NO cutoffs, or t-shirts
  • The aquatic staff reserves the right to limit the number of swimmers in either pool at any time
Health & safety
  • Both pools are handicap accessible by lift - to be operated by staff only
  • NO Street shoes on deck
  • NO Glass
  • NO food/drinks
  • NO Running, Pushing, or Dangerous Horseplay
  • NO Band-aids or hairpins
  • Persons with open wounds, cuts, etc..are advised not to use the pools
  • Any person with an infectious disease is prohibited from using the pools
  • It is the responsibility of the individual with a life threatening medical condition to inform the aquatic staff prior to entering the pools
  • No items may be hung on the rail between the two pools
Diving
  • Jumps & forward dives from the deep end, permitted only in open swim area of the large pool
  • NO twists or backward dives
  • Keep ladders clear at all times - do not jump off pool ladders
  • Starting blocks are to be used only under direct supervision of a coach/instructor
Equipment
  • Floaties, bubbles, barbells, noodles etc may not be brought in from an outside source
  • zoomers/flippers and pull paddles are for the YMCA Stripers swim team practice and will not be available for recreational swims
  • Kickboards are for lessons and lap swim; one per patron - please do not sit on boards
  • Snorkels may be used by certified patrons only
Lap swim
  • Please enter from shallow end of the pool only
  • Please alert other swimmers before entering if you plan to join their lane
  • Two swimmers may split a lane each taking a side. When there are 3+ please use circle swimming. This is usually done in a counter clockwise direction
  • Do not rest or hang on lane lines
